Patient Care Technician
The Patient Care Technician program prepares a graduate to work as a high quality entry-level Patient Care Technician in a clinic, hospital, wound care centers or long-term care facility.
Students who successfully complete the Patient Care Technician program will have a strong foundation in patient care procedures, phlebotomy and EKG. Upon successful completion of the Patient Care Technician, students may be eligible to sit for certifications as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, EKG technician and as well as Patient Care Technician.

Upon successful completion, the objectives for the Patient Care Technician program are as follows:
Function as members of a health care team to provide basic patient care. Use appropriate medical language to communicate with co-workers and ancillary staff. Perform duties safely and effectively within their scope of practice such as Phlebotomy procedures, EKG-12 leads, Home Healthcare and Orderly services, vital signs and more. Apply problem solving and critical thinking skills within their scope of practice and in coordination with team members to foster good patient outcomes. Understand and practice infection control per CDC, OSHA, and facility guidelines.Use effective written and oral communication and listening skills in interactions with a diverse patient population.

8:00am to 4:00pm (10-12 weeks )

5:30pm to 9:30pm (17-20 weeks)

The Patient Care Technician program prepares students for employment as a Patient Care Technician or Patient Care Assistant in a long-term care facility such as a Hospital, Nursing home, Assisted Living Facility, Laboratories, Dialysis centers, Doctor’s office and other healthcare settings.
